Thanks to its information system, it keeps alerting about possible tax evasions. The latest is the seizure of a large amount of counterfeit medicines by the customs rapid intervention department of the Mono and Couffo departments. Indeed, it is based on information received from the Director General of Customs and Indirect Rights, Charles Inousa SACCA that the Chief Rapid Response Service of the Mono and Couffo Departments has formed a crackdown team through the execution of the service n°039 of 07/03/2019. Une patrouille formellement diligentée et conduite par des agents douaniers désignés à l’occasion ont intercepté aux environs de 03 heures 30 minutes sur la route inter-Etat Cotonou Hilla-Condji, un véhicule Peugeot 505 immatriculé BD 6399 RB en provenance du Togo et à destination de Cotonou. Interpellé, le conducteur dudit véhicule refuse d’obéir aux injonctions des agents. Après une course poursuite, ledit véhicule a été finalement immobilisé et conduit au siège de l’unité. Après une fouille minutieuse, il a été découvert à bord, une importante quantité de faux médicaments. Le moyen de transport ainsi que les produits prohibés sont gardés au siège de l’Unité pour les suites contentieuses. Une opération qui montre, à plus d’un titre, la vigilance et le professionnalisme des disciples de Saint Mathieu qui sont prêts à accompagner le chef de L’Etat dans sa croisade contre les faussaires et autres commerçants véreux qui ont pour seul souci de se mettre en marge des lois de la République. Mais des citoyens avisés commis à l’œuvre de les rappeler à l’ordre ne fléchissent pas.
