The fight against pharmaceutical crime is becoming stronger in Benin. This is the result of the seizure of false medicines by the customs authorities of Benin.

In fact, following information from the Atlantic and Littoral Rapid Response Service that a Renault vehicle, registered AY6453/AT4851 RB, headed for the city of Porto-Novo, reportedly loaded a large quantity of pharmaceutical products smuggled and carefully hidden under bags of coal, the Chief Service dispatched an urgent team to the field.

The immediately completed procedures made it possible to catch the load and drive it to the unit headquarters for thorough inspection.

The unloading of the vehicle carried out in the presence of the driver of the said vehicle, representatives of the Directorate of Pharmacy and the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police revealed one hundred and fifty-six (156) packages of pharmaceutical products (DYNEWELL syrup, LETALIN Sirop...), hidden in the middle of two hundred and fifty-four (254) bags of charcoal and four (04) bags of maize, a total weight of 6,760 kilograms.

An application is made to the President of the Cotonou Court of First Instance for an order to confiscate and authorize the destruction of seized pharmaceutical products.
