Hillacondji Customs intercepts record cargo of 5,574 Android phones

Benin Customs is another major success in the fight against cross-border fraud.

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, elements of the Hillacondji Customs Brigade, under the command of Captain Fortuné ALLAGBE, Chief of Brigade, made a major seizure of 5,574 Android mobile phones

This operation, conducted with professionalism and efficiency, is the result of the vigilance of field officers, the quality of operational intelligence and the perfect coordination of units engaged in the surveillance of trade corridors.

Beyond its quantitative importance, this seizure illustrates the new momentum in the Customs Administration. It demonstrates the perfect synergy between the operational units, mobilized around clear objectives, an enhanced targeting strategy and an increased presence on the ground.

Since taking command, the Director General of Customs, Colonel Raoul Malèhossou ABOUDOU, has made operational efficiency, coordination of services and intensification of the fight against illicit trafficking a major priority. The results achieved on the ground already reflect this desire to strengthen the protection of the national territory and to preserve the economic interests of the State.

The seizure of Hillacondji thus confirms the rise in the control devices implemented by Benin Customs. It was a strong signal to fraud networks and reaffirmed the Administration's determination to combat all forms of illegal trafficking unabated.

More than ever, Beninese Customs pursue its mission with rigour and commitment: securing borders, protecting the national economy and ensuring fair commercial competition for the benefit of all.
