2019: SMART Borders

As part of the joint organization of International Customs Day, a delegation of Beninese customs went to the Juxtaposed Control Post in Malanville for a working session with the Niger Customs.

The purpose of this session was to discuss the practical organization of the JID 2019, to develop the list of participants, to identify safety measures and other appropriate arrangements for the success of the event.

As part of the activities that will furnish this historic day, we can note:

• the joint troop review of the two DGs;
• presentation of the interconnection between Benin and Niger;
• the presentation of the electronic transit procedure (T1);
• presentation of the OAS Benin programme;
• presentation of the reforms undertaken by Niger Customs.

The highlight of the evening will be the launch by the two Directors General of the interconnection between the two customs administrations.

The Benin Customs Administration was represented by the Malanville Customs Receiver, the Chief Special Escort Section, the Interconnection Focal Point and the Chief User Service.

It should be recalled that the theme of International Customs Day, 2019 edition is: « SMART borders for fluid trade and unhindered movement of people and goods ».
