During the execution of service n°08 of 02/06/2019 and following a suspicion of import of prohibited products denounced by the officials of BENIN control, the Customs officials of the Mono-Couffo Rapid Response Service intercepted around 06 hours 30 minutes at the Guézin checkpoint, a Toyota Avensis vehicle registered BM 5711 RB from Togo to Cotonou. When questioned, the driver states that he has loaded paint jars and baby diapers, the said goods which are not covered by any customs document which could attest to free movement. The load was simply taken to the seat of the unit where the ecor carried out made it possible to discover not only the products declared by the driver, but also a cargo of false medicines hidden in specially arranged hiding places. Total cint twenty one (121) kilograms of counterfeit pharmaceutical products Being as follows:-five (05) cartons of socomol weighing 50 kg; -two (02) cartons of caspagin weighing 20 kg;-one (01) carton of letamox weighing 04 kg and-two (02) packs of various medicinal products weighing 47 kg.The detained offender will be brought before the prosecutor in the coming days.
