Mass seizure of drugs: The Regional Anti-Fraud Service Atlantic-Littoral stops a boat of 1804 cannabis balls with a total weight of 931,600Kg

It is a record drug seizure that the Anti-Atlantic-Littoral Fraud Service has just succeeded. thousand eight hundred and four (1804) cannabis balls of a total weight of 931, 600 kgThis is the impressive amount of drugs that people wanted to pass on the Benin coast. The officers of the Atlantic-Littoral Fraud Control Service, under the orders of the Lieutenant-Colonel Sadeck OROU GUIDOU and of the Commander Modest DOSSOUGBE Chief Brigade and Deputy Chief Brigade of the Regional Anti-Fraud Service Atlantic Littoral managed to stop the goods.

It is an operation carried out effectively on Tuesday 10 October 2023 between 11am and 8pm. The officers of the Regional Anti-Fraud Service of the Atlantic and Littoral under the orders of their Chiefs Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Sadeck OROU GUIDOU and Commander Modeste DOSSOUGBE went to sea to exploit a fraud notice. Once offshore, customs officers accompanied by a few military personnel identified a suspicious boat. They also crossed a motorized boat during the course of control, which they stopped. The fraudsters did not want to comply with the defendants' injunctions of arrest by customs officers, so they fled to Nigeria. Engaged in a chase and losing speed, the occupants threw themselves into the sea. The boat driver tried to overturn the load but could not untie the outboard engine, so he also threw himself into the sea. The agents then took possession of the cargo and brought the boat back to the post of the Regional Anti-Fraud Service of the Atlantic and Littoral near the Cotonou lagoon.

On the scene, the boat was made in the presence of the Commissioner of XWLACODJI, the First Class Commissioner Cossi Edmond LATOUNDJI and an officer of the Judicial Police. Twenty-two (22) cannabis bags were counted.

The said bags were transmitted to OCERTID which, after analysis, confirmed that they were indeed cannabis, i.e. one thousand eight hundred and four (1804) balls with a total weight of 931, 600kg.

In collaboration with the Xwlacodji police station and other relevant services, investigations are being initiated to re-establish and dismantle the pipeline.

This new operation, carried out with professionalism by the agents of the Regional Anti-Fraud Service of the Atlantic and the Littoral, proves to be sufficient that customs officials are more motivated than ever to fight fraud in all its dimensions on land and on the sea. These brilliant actions, which confirm the good morale of the troops, constitute the proof that the government has seen just by initiating a new mode of governance to which the agents have adhered without delay. One thing seems obvious is that Beninese customs have opted for performance and anti-fraud services are more mobilized than ever. It's an irreversible choice.
