TRAFFIC TO THE SOUTH WEST BENIN BORDER: HOUSAHOUÉ FRAPPE FORT, 4 CUPS OF FILET IN 45 DAYS

In a month and a half, the small border brigade pulled out of 640 drug dumplings and illicit pharmaceutical products. Indian hemp, fake medication... The modus operandi of traffickers is the same: to blend in the buses coming from Togo.
Between August and September 2026, four seizures by the Hounsahoué Customs Brigade illustrate the government's determination to combat illicit trafficking. This mobilization combines intelligence, operational vigilance and inter-service cooperation to protect people and secure borders.

A series of significant seizures, weighty results

In Hounsahoué, the fight against illicit trafficking produces concrete results. From 8 August to 24 September 2026, the teams of the Chief Controller Romuald ZOCLANCLOUNON, under the command of the Second Class Inspector Benjamin KOUAGOU, intercepted 862,000 tablets of diazekin-5 and 640 pellets of narcotics. This series of seizures illustrates their commitment and ability to maintain ongoing operational vigilance.
On 8 August, 431 bags of pharmaceutical products, representing 862,000 tablets and a total weight of 208 kilograms, were first intercepted in two bags on board a public transit bus. On 5 September, about 28 kilograms of Indian hemp-like products were discovered in two bags aboard another bus. On 14 September, approximately 300 kilograms of similar products were intercepted in a minibus for the transport of goods from Togo, carefully hidden in a fitted compartment. Finally, on 24 September, 69 kilograms of narcotics were found in four bags among the luggage of a bus also coming from Togo.

An assumed doctrine: intelligence at the heart of action

These nettings don't have to be random. They reflect the doctrine led by the Director General, Colonel Raouf Malèhossou ABOUDOU: making intelligence the focal point of customs action. Anticipate the threat, target the controls, strike just. A vision that transforms information into operational results in the field.

Beyond taxes, a rampart for people

Beyond the quantities seized, these operations recall the safe and sanitary scope of customs action. Intercepting such shipments helps to prevent their movement and protect populations, especially young people. The ongoing investigations should clarify the responsibilities and possible ramifications of the traffic concerned.
The Customs thus affirms a mission that goes beyond the collection of duties and taxes: to protect borders, to preserve public health and to oppose illegal trafficking a sustained and determined action.
