Under the vision of his Director General, Customs Inspector Charles Inousa SACCA BOCO and like customs from around the world, the Benin Customs Administration is celebrating this Friday, January 26 in the DGDDI Conference Room, International Customs Day (JID).

For the year 2018, the Secretary General of the World Organization of Customs (WCO) through his speech addressed a very important aspect which is summarized as follows: « While it is important for governments to support specific interventions to enable businesses to prosper, it is also essential to take into account the external environment in which they operate. ».

It is in this context that this day is dedicated to strengthening the security of the commercial environment under the slogan « A secure business environment for economic development ».

The Director General recalled that, through this theme, the WCO Customs Administrations are called upon to examine how they can create an enabling environment for businesses in order to encourage their participation in cross-border trade. They are therefore invited to look at how they can best serve such enterprises and increase entrepreneurs' prospects; This is perfectly in line with the vision of the Government of Benin Revealed through the implementation of a range of reforms including the Import Verification Programme and institutional and computer reforms, including the creation of a Single External Trade Window (GUCE), with a view to real and total dematerialization of customs clearance procedures.

The implementation of these reforms, in collaboration with the technical partners Benin-control and Webb Fontaine, has led to the achievement of a 98.23% implementation rate which corresponds to a increase of more than 24 billion CFA francs against 2016 achievements.

The commemoration of International Customs Day was the occasion for the Benin Customs Administration to present, through a communication, all the customs measures contained in the Finance Act 2018.
