  • Awareness-raising session on transit time for goods and vehicles in Benin. – DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR CUSTOMS

Awareness-raising session on transit time for goods and vehicles in Benin.

Failure to comply with the time limits for transiting goods and vehicles in Benin constitutes a customs offence which will no longer be ignored.

This information was conveyed by the Director General of Customs through an awareness-raising session on Thursday 21 December 2017 at the conference room of the General Directorate of Customs and Rights, reinforced by the Memorandum No. 4330/DGDDI/DLRI dated 21/12/2017 and the Circular No. 4316/DGDDI/DLRI of 20/12/2017.

Failure to comply with the deadlines can be analysed as a total or partial failure to fulfil the commitments entered into in the acquisitions and bids.

Thus, any violator who falls under this customs offence will be punished in accordance with the provisions Article 456 of the Customs Code.

Moreover, the Director General has invited all Departmental Directors and Heads of Unit to the strict and effective application of this provision, which will take effect from the date of 1and January 2018.
