Benin Customs: 139 new agents officially wear their stripes

On Monday, January 5, 2025, the Directorate General of Customs organized the official ceremony of the 139 staff recruited for the year 2023, marking their formal integration into the bodies of Beninese customs officials. This is 129 Customs officers and 10 Customs inspectors. Therefore, the opportunity was seized to hand over the grade attributes to 7 other staff promoted to the rank of first-class controller. The event marked by a great solemnity was an occasion to pay tribute to the Head of State and Minister of Economy and Finance, whose continued support for modernisation and capacity building of the customs administration was welcomed.

This ceremony marks the end of a demanding training process, where the new agents were prepared technically, administratively and ethically at the National Customs School in accordance with the requirements of the customs profession.

A key step in the agents' journey

The port of galons formalizes the status of new customs officials and fully engages them in the exercise of the Customs's sovereign missions: mobilizing revenue, securing the territory and facilitating trade and combating customs fraud. The Director General of Customs, Ms. Adidjatou HASSANin its address to the new civil servants, recalled the importance of discipline, professionalism, sense of sacrifice and ethical exemplaryness expected of them in the exercise of their public service missions.

With the integration of these 139 agents, the Benin Customs is strengthening its operational capacity throughout the country.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a professional career for these agents, now entrusted with important responsibilities in the service of the State. DGD congratulated recipients whose very valuable performances were noted during the course of training, and expressed wishes for success in their further careers.
