Launch of the recruitment competition for 150 agents for the benefit of the General Directorate of Customs

Benin Customs will soon have more staff. Following the decision taken by the government in its meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 12 October 2022 for the recruitment of 150 agents for the benefit of this financial authority, the Director General of Customs Alain HINKATI proceeded on Saturday 11 February 2023 to launch the written phase of the customs contest. It was at the Coulibaly Technical High School in Cotonou.
Since 2010, the year of the last recruitment of officers in this paramilitary corps, Beninese customs have never seen an increase in their staff. And yet, this financial governance through these annual performances contributes enormously to the mobilization of financial resources for the benefit of state funds.

In order to strengthen its effective participation in the country's development, President Patrice Talon has since 2016 decided to implement sound reforms in this sector. On the basis of this, in September 2021, under the leadership of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ministers of State Mr Romuald Wadagni, and with the aim of working for a more efficient and better governed customs, Mr Alain HINKATI was appointed to the post of Director General of Customs, in accordance with the texts governing this body. It is responsible for implementing the reforms.
Referring to the instructions of the Council of Ministers, the Director General of Customs Alain HINKATI organised this competition with the utmost impartiality. Several delegations were present, including the Bac Office, the Ministry of Public Service and the Ministry of Finance. And for this competition which took place throughout the national territory, an innovation came in: it was the psychotechnical text which was the first phase of elimination. At the end of this phase, 1,500 candidates were selected in the Territory. They composed in the morning of this Saturday, February 11, 2023 in a first general culture event and then in specialty according to the different bodies.
In launching the tests under high security and impartiality, the Director General of Customs urged the candidates for deep reflection in order to be among those who will be selected. On that occasion he was accompanied by the director of the baccalaureate office and members of his cabinet.
At the end of the written phase, the Director of the Office of the Bac congratulated the General Directorate of Customs for the good organization of this competition, which took place without any incident.
It should be noted that, after the results of the written phase which will be made available on the digital platforms of Benin Customs, the successful candidates will pass the medical examination before receiving the training. This first test of the organisation of this contest was a mastery for the Director General of Customs Alain HINKATI and all his teams.
